Au is the chemical symbol for gold. This must mean that the coin is 1/2 an ounce and 99.9% gold, with possibly a very very small percentage of other metals mixed in. It seems to me that this is a real gold coin, of course anyone can write anything on a coin that they want, but the Au certainly isn’t negative. Good for you, seems like a valuable coin.

Au is the chemical symbol for the element- GOLD.
The AU mark does not hurt or lower the value.

AU is the symbol for gold on the periodic table of elements so the 1/2 means one half of gold(AU)

Au is the Table of Elements shorthand for Gold. .999 means it is the finest gold. 1/2 oz of pure gold. google for the value. Au is important to have on it.

Gold is a chemical element with the symbol Au (from the Latin aurum, meaning shining dawn) and atomic number 79.

AU is the chemical symbol for gold. Short for it’s Latin name. .999 is it’s purity (bullion grade)

I collect silver jewerly which it is .925 silver or 92.5% silver if the other 7.5% is copper it’s sterling. ( I prefer Indian Silver )

Au is the simple for gold. You can see it in periodic table. Its got from word Aurum which is greek(or latin, i’m not sure) of gold. Thus Au simply means gold, nothing else.
