is there a reverse lettering error on the new gold washington presidential dollars?

dazed4lifer asked:

i have the collection, released so far, from both mints and on my washington coin from the philly mint the edge lettering is upside down. for the rest of the set the front, presidents bust, has to be “out” for me to read it. washington’s coin the bust has to be “in” to readthe edge lettering. is this really an error or something else?

Selling gold to a dealer.how much do you lose?

rolex452 asked:

Re: a one ounce, pure 24kt gold coin (American Buffalo)..this not only has the gold value, but added value as a coin, and more added value in proof condition. But by the time a dealer gets through with his fees and profit-taking for buying the coin, you end up with LESS than the actual value of the ounce of gold…its selling somebody money at a discount so they can re-sell the same money for a big profit.

Question: does anybody know the structure of the fees and profit margins involved in a dealer buying gold from a private party? What criteria do they use when giving us a price (always less than the actual value of the gold)? Thanks for any info.

Value of an 1887 gold Kaiser Wilhelm I (King of Prussia) 20 mark coin?

good2balive asked:

I just can’t make sense of the stuff on the web. I basically want to know what a numismatist might offer me. And the possible range from the lowest to the highest. It’s in pretty good shape, had been set into a pendant frame (or whatever it’s called) with little claws–not soldered together. It’s been sitting in my jewelery box for 18 years or so, and I’ve only worn it a couple of times as the chain broke years ago and I hadn’t found another one. Personally, wearing coins as jewelery isn’t my thing.
Very nice and detailed answer! As it turns out, I got a nice price, and it was based on the value of the gold alone, $190. Also got a nice extra for the 18K bezel. I was surprised to get that and pleased with the extra cash in pocket for something that had been gathering dust in my jewelry box.

found $20 saint gaudens gold coins. years 1903-1914. not sure about worth?

BABYPHATgoddess asked:

They’re not minted, and I want to sell them, but I don’t know where to start… I’m not even sure about their worth. I’ve done research on coin collecting sites, but things are still confusing (the grade).

How does one strike metal coin-like tokens by hand as a home hobby?

Bo_Hemian asked:

This includes engraving dies and procuring the proper planchets, which could well be gold or silver, but more commonly, bronze or nickel. It is not to counterfeit, but to have personally-made tokens, like they use with game machines.

**URGENT! **How Much Is A 1999 $25 DOLLAR GOLD EAGLE Worth? ?

ThaShotCalla asked:

I was recently looking at currency items on Ebay, and I came across a 1999 $25 dollar Proof Gold coin that was for sale, and noticed it had a “Buy It Now” price of $2,355 dollars. I am fairly new to collecting coins, so I was hoping someone could please possibly help me out with a question I had about that coin. Is this coin a “very rare” coin? Is it because it’s been graded by chance? Or is it a rare coin as far as the year? I have searched all over the web trying to find this out, and realized several sites that deal in gold coins had several $25.00 gold coins for sell, but the 1999 coin wasn’t available in their lists, they had surrounding years, but skipped 1999. Is this coin a “very rare” coin? I would greatly appreciate your help & response to this, It’s driving me crazy trying to find out an honest response by searching the web, It interest me because i believe i may also have this coin in a collection i have in storage, but mine has not been graded. Does having the coin graded greatly increase the value as well? Again, I would really appreciate any help on this, and look forward to your response. I Would Appreciate An Urgent Honest Response! How do you know if you should get a coin graded or not?

Nick E asked:

I have a decent amount of Silver American Eagles, and a few miscellanous gold coins. How do you determine 1) if I should get a coin graded, and 2) is there a way I can determine which coins would be more ideal to send to NGC or PCGS? Should I invest in a magnifing glass, handle the coins with certain type of gloves? I just want to know how I can do a rough grading of the coins myself to send only the best quality off to get graded. Once I determine the best quality of those coins, is there a place I can go to determine how much the value of that coin would increase if graded of high quality?
